Army to award businesses $250,000 each for electronic vehicle cooling systems

The U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research Program seeks innovative small and nontraditional businesses for its Yuma Test Center Full Load Cooling solicitation — an Army investment prioritizing the improvement of cooling capabilities in vehicles with electronic powertrains. Via the new contract opportunity, the Army asks firms to submit proposals for solutions that offer data-processing techniques that can monitor and assess automotive temperatures. Eligible applicants must submit proposal packages through the Defense SBIR|STTR Innovation Portal.

Pre-Release Period (Open Q&A): Dec. 5 – Dec. 19, 2023, at noon ET

Open Submission (Q&A through DSIP only): Dec. 20, 2023 – Jan. 23, 2024, at noon ET

Forecasted Dollars and Time

  • Up to $250,000 | Phase I (Up to 6 months)

The Army SBIR Program offers Phase I contracts to small and nontraditional businesses whose solutions show technical merit and commercial viability. The program provides Phase II and Direct to Phase II contracts to firms addressing Army challenges with mature technologies that can receive increased federal support.
